Baroque in Spiš festival

Zamek w Niedzicy nad Jeziorem Czorsztyńskim widziany z lotu ptaka
The festival Baroque in Spiš aims to promote great baroque monuments located in the Polish Spiš region. The decoration of the churches in Niedzica, Łapsze Niżne, Łapsze Wyżne, Kacwin, Frydman, Krempachy, Trybsz, Nowa Biała and Jurgów are genuine baroque pearls, but they are still little known. Their interiors welcome baroque music concerts performed by artists specializing in early music played on copies of historic instruments and representing a high professional level.

This year, the theme of the festival will be emotions. Therefore, we invite you to five exciting concerts full of feelings.

The festival will be inaugurated on 15 August by the Overtone band from Wroclaw in the programme entitled "Under the cover of the night, or a woman in the Bible and not only" in the St. Sebastian church in Jurgów.

On 17 August, the Ensemble del Passato (Poznań) will help us take a closer look at emotions in sacred music in the programme "Sacrum and emotions" in the St. Bartholomew church in Niedzica.

On 23 August, we will experience particularly strong emotions. The Scepus Baroque band together with actress Anna Bugajska will perform in the exciting programme "Bride or nun? Longing for the Bridegroom", which will consist of the works composed by of nuns. Nowa Biała, St. Catherine of Alexandria church.

On 24 August, in turn, we will completely change the mood with the "Fire and Water" programme presenting marriage disputes of two baroque violinists Dominika Małecka and Mateusz Małecki, who in the St. Stanislaus church in Frydman will give us the answer to the question: can the violin speak?

And on 25 August, in order to raise the temperature to maximum, the festival will end at the castle in Niedzica with English "Crazy Songs" performed by Katarzyna Wiwer (soprano) accompanied by two great musicians: harpsichordist Andrzej Zawisza and Christoph Urbanetz, virtuoso of viola da gamba.

This year there will also be interesting mini lectures, guided tours of beautiful Spiš historic churches, as well as nice and interesting meetings with artists.

We encourage you to check the detailed programme of this year's festival.
