Synagoga Poppera Kraków
Popper Synagogue In Krakow
Monuments
ul. Szeroka 16, 33-332 Kraków
Tourist region: Kraków i okolice
The synagogue was built in 1620 thanks to the rich Krakow merchant Wolf Popper Krakow called the Stork.
Originally, the building was adjacent to the city wall from the east side. In 1827, renovation modifications took place and the gate was built, closing the courtyard of the synagogue and the yard from the side of ul. Szeroka. The only element of the original decorations, preserved to this day, is the wooden door of the Torah Ark cabinet, currently stored in Jerusalem. Today, the building of the synagogue is used as a gallery and art studio.
