Rabka-Zdrój, a picturesque mountain spa in the foothills of the Gorce Mountains and Beskid Wyspowy, is also the City of the Children of the World. Why? Well, because they recuperated here. And it is they who award their unique accolade, the Order of the Smile, here every year.

In this extraordinary land of children, beautiful mountains and natural mineral waters – ‘Helena’, ‘Krakus’, ‘Rabka 18’, ‘Rabka 19’, ‘Warzelnia’ – there is also a specific microclimate, one that favours the treatment of the upper respiratory tract.  Rabka’s brine springs have been known for centuries, and the local iodine-bromine brines are among the strongest in Europe.

In the beautiful and well-maintained Spa Park, you will not only find a brine graduation tower with a pump room for mineral waters, but also other attractions, such as the Skate and Trial Park, the Traffic Town, the Street Workout Park, the Fountain with 7 Elephants, and so on.

Children will surely be delighted if you take them to the Rabkoland Family Amusement Park (with the Museum of Records and Curiosities, the Museum of the Order of the Smile), the ‘Rabcio’ Puppet Theatre, and also in front of the statue of St Nicholas (by the railway station).

Of course, the opportunities offered by the spa can also be enjoyed by adults.  It is worth taking the chance to visit the wooden church of St. Mary Magdalene dating from 1606, now housing the collections of the Władysław Orkan Regional Museum and the Museum of Highlanders and Robbers, orgo on  a leisurely hike. There is no shortage of trails and paths in Rabka and its surroundings.

We suggest that exquisite examples of architecture can be found on the Wooden Architecture Route, e.g., in Rdzawka on Obidowa, Sieniawa, Spytkowice, Krzeczów. In nearby Chabówka, we can see old steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and other unusual rail vehicles. It's the home of the Rolling Stock Open-Air Museum, and in the summer season, retro-style tourist trains depart from here.

In turn, the nearby Gorce Mountains and the Beskid Wyspowy are an ideal arena for active tourism. The red trail leads to the highest peak in the Gorce, Mt Turbacz, and goes past the PTTK Mountain Shelters on Maciejowa and Stare Wierchy. The green, blue and yellow trails lead to Luboń Wielki in the Beskid Wyspowy, rising just above the spa. In winter, undemanding skiing slopes await here.

You can learn all this in more detail at the Rabka Tourist Information Point (PIT). The advice and information  will come in handy on your short walks and  longer forays into the mountains. And here, of course, you will receive free guides, brochures, leaflets, maps and plans, all available in several languages. The PIT staff will also recommend the most exciting routes, places worth visiting, and places where you can eat well and find comfortable accommodation.  PIT cooperates with local, regional and national institutions.

A well-developed  website also makes life easier for tourists. It is an excellent source of up-to-date information, an extensive database of accommodation and catering facilities, as well as necessary addresses, telephone numbers and information about numerous attractions and trails (tourist, cultural, educational, culinary, mountain, hiking, cycling) and a rich sports and recreation offer. Here, you can learn about the history and interesting facts about the town and the spa, and a mobile application as well as the many plans, maps, brochures and multimedia (films, virtual walk) can be downloaded.

The Tourist Information Point in Rabka-Zdrój operates as part of the Małopolska Tourist Information System.
