In Ludźmierz in Podhale Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer was born. He was a lyrical poet of the Young Poland movement, a Decadent, a writer of love poems, a bard of the Tatra mountains and legends of the Polish highlands.
He was the model for the character of the Poet in the drama “Wesele” by Stanisław Wyspiański. Włodzimierz Tetmajer was the painter’s stepbrother. The Tetmajers moved to Kraków in 1883 and their family house in Ludźmierz hasn’t survived.
